DMPTool is a free, open-source, online application that helps researchers create Data Management Plans (DMP) that comply with funder requirements. DMPs are increasingly required for fundamental research by funding agencies and institutions. Using the DMPTool, researchers can create, store, share, and request reviews of their DMP or Technology Control Plan TCP all through one interface.
What
With the DMPTool you can:
- Write a DMP or TCP
- Create DMPs using funder created templates
- Keep your DMPs and TCPs in a centralized location
- Navigate through key research data management lifecycle elements of a plan using a click-through wizard
- Save, edit, and share plans with collaborators
- Export a plan as a PDF, docx, csv, and more
- Register your plan with ORCID
When
The DMPTool can be used at any time by anyone who wants to document how they’re going to manage data across the research data lifecycle..
DMPs are increasingly required by funding agencies and research institutions. When DMPs are not explicitly required, UT Dallas still highly recommends that a researcher develop a DMP. A good data management plan will help researchers manage their data, improve project efficiency, save time and money, meet funder requirements, and impact the ease of sharing and reproducibility of results.
How
Navigate to DMPTool and choose the institutional login option, select UT Dallas, and sign-in using your UT Dallas NetID. Visit our Wiki for more information.
